In universities, it can range from six months to a full year, often referred to as a “sabbatical year.” In private companies, the length of sabbaticals is influenced by company policy and an employee’s years of service. For instance, Adobe offers four weeks of sabbatical to employees with at least five years of tenure and extends it to five weeks for those with a decade of service.

Sabbatical leave can be either paid or unpaid, depending on the organization’s policies. Many institutions provide paid sabbaticals, offering either a full salary or a percentage of it during the leave period.
